Electricity price increase must be considered at the lowest level

That is the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, Head of the Steering Committee for Price Management, on the viewpoint of price management and operation from now until the end of 2017.

In a statement issued this afternoon (November 8), the Ministry of Finance said that Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue requested ministries and branches to do a good job in managing and operating prices.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade urgently completes the plan to adjust electricity prices and submit it to the Government for decision. In case it is necessary to increase electricity prices, it is necessary to consider adjusting them at the lowest possible level, while simultaneously combining them with other growth support solutions to compensate for the corresponding decrease in GDP growth rate.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade was assigned to urgently complete the plan to adjust electricity prices.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade shall preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Finance to continue to manage domestic gasoline prices according to Decree No. 83/2014/ND-CP dated September 3, 2014 of the Government, using the Price Stabilization Fund with appropriate doses to help control the general price level, especially during the time near holidays, Tet or times when gasoline prices have increased continuously for many periods, to avoid affecting inflation expectations.

Regarding the implementation of the roadmap for adjusting medical service prices in 2018, the Deputy Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Health to preside over and coordinate with the Social Insurance and the Ministry of Finance to calculate and report to the Government on a suitable adjustment roadmap and solutions to ensure the payment capacity of the Health Insurance Fund when implementing the price adjustment roadmap.

The Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs shall grasp and evaluate the adjustment of tuition fees of higher education and vocational training institutions in 2017 compared to the roadmap for correctly and fully calculating the price of public service services prescribed in Decree No. 16/2015/ND-CP regulating the autonomy mechanism of public service units to have appropriate price adjustment orientations for 2018.

The Ministry of Education and Training coordinates with localities to carefully assess the implementation of current prices compared to the tuition fee framework and ceiling prescribed in Decree No. 86/2015/ND-CP regulating the mechanism for collecting and managing tuition fees for educational institutions in the national education system and the policy of exempting and reducing tuition fees and supporting learning costs from the 2015-2016 school year to the 2020-2021 school year to develop price management scenarios in the following years as well as to make recommendations and amend Decree No. 86/2015/ND-CP in accordance with actual implementation.
