Environmental pollution in livestock farming has long existed and remains a pressing issue. Over the years, localities and residents have implemented various measures to reduce pollution, both in terms of odor and waste; however, each approach still has its limitations.

At the workshop, agricultural experts from Japan presented the results of the project on composting and transporting livestock manure in Nghe An, funded by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; and the results of analyzing compost and soil samples from the demonstration farms.

Accordingly, the traditional methods of composting livestock manure in Japan and Vietnam are completely different. During the composting process, Japanese farmers remove excess water and maximize air contact with the compost.

Experiments conducted by Japanese experts in Dien Chau and Nghia Dan districts showed that the Japanese method of composting livestock manure provided sufficient nutrients for crops, resulting in significantly increased crop yield and quality, while also improving soil aeration. Using composted livestock manure also contributes to reducing environmental pollution in the livestock sector. At the workshop, Japanese agricultural experts shared their experiences in composting and its application in farming, and answered questions from workshop participants.
