Increase the number of Vice Chairmen of People's Committees for communes, wards and towns of type II

This is the content of Decree No. 69/2020/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 08/2016/ND-CP dated January 25, 2016 of the Government stipulating the number of Vice Chairmen of the People's Committee and the process and procedures for electing, resigning, dismissing, removing, transferring, and removing members of the People's Committee, which was just signed and issued by the Prime Minister on June 24.

According to Decree No. 69/2020/ND-CP, for rural administrative units: Type I and Type II communes have no more than 2 Vice Chairmen of the People's Committee, Type III communes have 1 Vice Chairman of the People's Committee.

For urban administrative units: Wards and towns of type I and type II have no more than 2 Vice Chairmen of the People's Committee; wards and towns of type III have 1 Vice Chairman of the People's Committee.

Thus, compared to Decree 08/2016/ND-CP dated January 25, 2016 of the Government (communes, wards, and towns of type II have only 1 Vice Chairman of the People's Committee), according to Decree 69/2020/ND-CP, communes, wards, and towns of type II will have 1 more Vice Chairman of the People's Committee.

Decree 69/2020/ND-CP takes effect from July 1, 2020. However, from the effective date of this Decree until the election of the People's Council for the 2021-2026 term, the number of Vice Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes, wards and towns of type II will continue to be implemented according to the provisions of Decree 08/2016/ND-CP.

According to data from the Department of Home Affairs, after merging commune-level administrative units, Nghe An currently has 460 communes, wards and towns, including 150 type I commune-level administrative units, 283 type II commune-level administrative units and 27 type III commune-level administrative units.
