(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 7, the provincial inspection delegation led by Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Hung - Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of Nghe An Provincial Military Command had a working session with Quynh Luu district on mobilizing human resources and civilian vessels to participate in protecting the sovereignty of our country's seas.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 7, the provincial inspection delegation led by Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Hung - Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of Nghe An Provincial Military Command had a working session with Quynh Luu district on mobilizing human resources and civilian vessels to participate in protecting the sovereignty of our country's seas.

Up to now, Quynh Luu district has 19.5km of coastline in 9 communes with a total of 1,177 vehicles/6,767 workers. Of which, 614 vehicles have a capacity of over 90CV, with 2 estuaries: Quen estuary (Quynh Thuan commune) and Thoi estuary (Son Hai commune) with each estuary having a capacity of about 500 ships and boats with a capacity of 200CV or more anchored.

Overview of the working session

Since the beginning of the year, Quynh Luu district has held meetings and reviewed the civilian forces and vehicles participating in protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands. The communes of Quynh Long, Quynh Nghia, Tien Thuy and Son Hai were assigned to review and synthesize reports on the local civilian forces and vehicles. In May 2014, Quynh Luu district coordinated with the Military Command of Nghe An province to establish the Son Hai commune maritime militia platoon with 28 members, which has been operating stably so far.

Up to this point, the entire Quynh Luu district has mobilized 22 vehicles with 200 CV or more with 186 crew members to participate in protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the country. Of which, Son Hai commune has 6 vehicles, Quynh Long commune has 6 vehicles, Quynh Nghia commune has 6 vehicles, Tien Thuy has 4 vehicles. Along with that, the District People's Committee has also directed the coastal communes to prepare 07 ships with a capacity of 200 CV, each with 10 to 12 fishermen ready to move. In addition, Quynh Luu district has also coordinated with the Exploitation Department under the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize training on the law on protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands for captains, chief engineers, and vehicle owners with a total of 240 participants. 300 round buoys, 150 life jackets were distributed to 350 ships and boats; 17 Icom devices were received and distributed to 17 ships and boats. Registered for loans to build 237 new vehicles, of which 11 vehicles registered to build iron-hulled ships.

Conclusion of the working sessionColonel Tran Van Hung highly appreciated the proactive spirit and thorough preparation of the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district in surveying local human resources and boats. A specific plan has been developed from propaganda, plans to mobilize boats to new policies for fishermen. In the coming time, Quynh Luu district needs to pay attention to reviewing policy families and fishermen who need to build new boats to go offshore according to Decision No. 90 of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, and continue to organize training for maritime militia on how to protect and prevent foreign ships from encroaching on the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
