(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 29, a delegation of officials from the Gyeonggi-do provincial government, South Korea, led by Mr. Kim Jong Suk - representative of the Gyeonggi-do provincial Foreign Affairs Department, had a working session at the Nghe An Foreign Affairs Department to discuss ways to expand cooperation and exchange between the two provinces. Welcoming and working with the delegation were Mr. Tran Ngoc Danh - Director of the Foreign Affairs Department, and representatives of the departments of Planning and Investment, Industry and Trade, Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The friendly cooperative relationship between Nghe An and Korea in general, and Nghe An and its sister province Gyeonggi-do in particular, has been developing well since 2009. As of November 2014, Nghe An province had 22 enterprises exporting to the Korean market, with an export turnover of 37.5 million USD, accounting for 10.2% of the total export turnover of the province. Import turnover from Korea reached 65.5 million USD, accounting for over 20% of the total import turnover of the province and increasing by 72.7% compared to the same period in 2013. FDI, ODA and non-governmental capital projects are also operating effectively, contributing significantly to strengthening the friendly cooperative relationship between the two sides.

To further strengthen this connection, at the working session, the delegation of Gyeonggi-do province introduced the electronic information page of Nghe An province - the Korean version. Thereby, introducing to investors of the province about the strengths as well as the market situation and economic development of Nghe An. Recognizing the importance of information in attracting businesses, Nghe An province also requested the province to support the organization of the Investment Promotion Conference in Nghe An in Gyeonggi-do in the coming time. Based on the strengths and development needs of Nghe An, we hope to have sharper marks of Korea in general and Gyeonggi-do province in particular, not only on the economic "map" but also in other fields such as education - training, especially exchange programs, improving professional qualifications for civil servants.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Kim Jong Suk - head of the delegation of Gyeonggi-do province thanked the warm and open reception of the leaders and people of Nghe An province, especially the invitation to attend the 2015 Lotus Village Festival - commemorating the 125th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh. At the same time, he also believed in the future of the friendly cooperation relationship between the two provinces, in the spirit of the orientation to promote the strategic relationship between the two countries that Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and President Park Geun Hye agreed upon at the talks (10-12/12) in Busan on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the dialogue relationship between ASEAN and Korea. Concluding the meeting, the two sides agreed to work together to create favorable conditions for businesses of Nghe An and Gyeonggi-do, the first specific action of which would be to create an information corridor, increase exchanges to understand, complement and support each other. Also this morning, a delegation of Gyeonggi-do province officials had a meeting with the Department of Planning and Investment on the issue of ODA capital.
