The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that hundreds of thousands of vehicles affected by this recall are small Chevrolet Aveo models, manufactured between 2004 and 2008, mainly in circulation in the US market.

According to NHTSA, the daytime running lights of this model can overheat, leading to fires.

Previously, on May 20, GM also reported errors in about 2.6 million cars, mainly in circulation in the US, with a series of technical errors, from seat belts, airbags to ignition systems.

With these two latest recalls, the total number of GM vehicles recalled since the beginning of 2014 is nearly 15 million.

GM also just accepted a $35 million fine for delaying reporting 2.6 million vehicles with faulty batteries earlier this year, which are believed to have led to accidents that killed at least 13 people.

In the first quarter of 2014 alone, GM had to spend 1.3 billion USD to repair technical errors in millions of cars./.
