In recent times, anti-corruption work in Vietnam has had positive changes and achieved many initial results. However, anti-corruption work still has some limitations, corruption and waste are still serious with sophisticated and complicated manifestations occurring in many fields, many levels, many sectors from management and use of land, resources, minerals to investment in basic construction, budget management... Article 9 of the Law on Anti-Corruption stipulates the responsibilities of press agencies, stating clearly: Press agencies are responsible for participating in anti-corruption work; cooperate with competent agencies, organizations and individuals in anti-corruption work; when reporting news, they must ensure accuracy, honesty, objectivity and must be responsible for the content of the information reported.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Hoang Huu Luong, Director of the Press Department (Ministry of Information and Communications) highly appreciated the contributions of press agencies in carrying out the task of propagating and disseminating the Party and State's legal policies on the fight against corruption. Reporters have published information provided by the people about phenomena and events with signs of corruption; published information that they themselves have researched and investigated to discover signs of corruption; provided timely and accurate information about corruption cases and incidents that are being investigated and handled... However, in reality, press agencies still face certain difficulties in providing timely information about corruption, especially in the context of extremely fierce information competition among press agencies to attract readers.
Attending the training, reporters and editors were provided with information on the situation of the fight against corruption in our country; the basic contents of the 2005 Law on Anti-Corruption and related regulations of the Party and State on anti-corruption, practicing thrift; solutions to prevent corruption; experience in anti-corruption. At the same time, representatives of the Press Department, Ministry of Information and Communications also guided and communicated topics on writing articles on anti-corruption; information and reporting regime on anti-corruption; concepts of anti-corruption.../.
