First aid training for traffic accident victims
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of September 15, the Red Cross Society coordinated with the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee to organize a training course on first aid for traffic accident victims for officials of departments, branches, sectors, organizations and Red Cross Society officials, unions, and volunteers in wards and communes in Vinh city.
According to statistics in 2013, Nghe An had 333 traffic accidents, killing 222 people and injuring 286 people. In 2014, the number of traffic accidents in the province decreased but was still at an alarming level. In order to minimize human damage and treatment costs for traffic accident victims, the training course provided the necessary knowledge and skills on first aid for traffic accident victims in the community for the trainees.

During 3 days, the trainees were equipped with basic knowledge on: Principles of handling and initial first aid when traffic accidents occur, emergency care when victims are unconscious, measures to stop bleeding, how to handle broken bones, how to safely transport victims when accidents occur, how to provide first aid to victims with traumatic brain injuries. The training course has practical significance in helping trainees grasp basic knowledge of first aid and apply it to specific situations when traffic accidents occur in the area, contributing to the implementation of national target programs on traffic safety with relevant agencies. From August 2014 to present, the Red Cross Society and the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee have organized training courses on first aid and emergency care for traffic accident victims in 9 districts and towns in the province.
