(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of August 14th, Nghe An Oncology Hospital inaugurated a training course on "Treatment and Palliative Care" for cancer patients.

The training course ran from August 14th to August 18th, with the participation of 37 doctors, 7 university-trained nurses, and 20 college and vocational school-trained nurses.

The training course is part of the Ministry of Health's program "Disseminating knowledge on treatment and palliative care" for cancer and HIV/AIDS patients, with assistance from the World Health Organization (WHO). The instructors are experts in treatment and palliative care from the Ministry of Health and a WHO volunteer from the United Kingdom.

The training program content is taught in accordance with the World Health Organization's materials. The treatment and palliative care content covers all aspects of treatment: from the physical, psychological, social, to spiritual well-being of terminally ill cancer patients.

It is known that palliative care and treatment for cancer and HIV/AIDS patients have only recently received significant research and development worldwide. In Vietnam, this program has only been implemented for the past three years, but it has developed rapidly thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Health and the expert and financial assistance of the World Health Organization.
