According to the report of the People's Committee of Ky Son district and the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue of Nghe An province, on the evening of August 24 and the morning of August 25, 2011, in My Ly and Bac Ly communes, Ky Son district, there was heavy rain causing flash floods, damaging houses and crops of the people. The People's Committee of Nghe An province reported to the Government, ministries and central branches on the situation of damage and the results of the direction to overcome the consequences as follows:
II. Damages:
No human damage
- Number of collapsed houses: 3 houses
- Number of houses that had to be evacuated due to landslides: 8 houses
- Collapsed houses: 10 houses
- 80 small hydroelectric generators and 10 bicycles were swept away.
On agricultural production:
- 3 buffaloes and cows washed away
- Pigs: 10
- Fish pond area: about 1 hectare
- Crops: 5 hectares
d. Traffic and irrigation works:
- The traffic route from Muong Long to My Ly was eroded, causing many sections to be blocked and impassable.
- The traffic route from Huoi Tu to Bac Ly has many landslides.
Total estimated damage: 10,000,000,000 (Ten billion VND)
III. Work to overcome the consequences of flash floods:
- The Nghe An Provincial Border Guard Command has directed Border Guard Station 527 to use its forces to coordinate with local authorities to overcome the consequences caused by floods.
- Coordinate with local authorities to deploy forces to flood-affected areas, evacuate people from dangerous areas, areas at risk of landslides and washaways, and collect statistics on damage caused by floods.
- 11 houses/45 people have been evacuated to safe locations.
- Nghe An Provincial People's Committee has issued a document directing Ky Son District People's Committee and departments and branches to urgently mobilize forces in the area, organize to overcome the consequences; support and encourage to visit families who suffered losses according to regulations; help families whose houses were swept away, collapsed, or severely damaged to repair their houses, stabilize their accommodation; organize hunger relief, clean up the environment, and quickly stabilize the lives of people in the flash flood area. Direct the repair and repair to ensure the smooth flow of traffic routes. Check and review houses at risk of flash floods and landslides, and organize emergency evacuation to safe locations.
