Focus on quality phase 2 of the Housing Support Program for the Poor

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 13, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to summarize the housing support program for poor households according to Decision 167/2008/QD-TTg and Decision No. 67/2010/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister. Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference.

Overview of the conference.

Since Decision 167 took effect, with the urgent participation of the entire political system, the housing support program for poor households has achieved positive results, helping many poor households have stable, safe and sustainable housing. 28,196 poor households have received housing support (including 18,844 poor households in disadvantaged areas according to Decision 30/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister). The total amount of money allocated to support poor households in housing is 437,392 million VND (225,624 million VND from the central budget, 209,426 million VND from loans from the Social Policy Bank, 2,342 million VND from the provincial budget).

From the State's support capital and loans according to regulations, localities have mobilized additional capital from the community and contributions from families, so most of the houses are built beyond the area and are of high quality; the architecture is suitable to customs and has a price of 30 - 36 million VND, many houses have a price of 90 - 100 million VND.

At the conference, the Provincial Steering Committee and delegates attending the conference assessed the advantages and difficulties, pointed out the limitations and shortcomings and drew lessons learned in the process of implementing the program. In order to more effectively implement the program to support poor households in housing, the Conference determined to do a good job of information and propaganda on policies and regularly update the implementation status through the media so that the whole society knows; focus on supporting poor households in real difficulties, without additional resources to build houses; strengthen the mobilization of organizations, unions, businesses, philanthropists and people to support funding, materials, and contribute working days to support poor households in building houses; encourage and motivate poor households so that the owners of houses make efforts to build houses on schedule... In addition, it recommended that the central ministries and branches expand the beneficiaries; adjust the support level; adjust the principles of capital allocation...

On behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Le Xuan Dai acknowledged and commended the results of the housing support program for poor households that has been implemented in the past time; at the same time, pointed out the remaining shortcomings. In order for the second phase of the program to achieve high results, comrade Le Xuan Dai proposed working groups for relevant departments and local authorities to implement. In particular, he requested localities and relevant departments to accurately review the number of poor households in need of housing support; take drastic action and propose good solutions, suitable to the local situation to implement the program...

Comrade Le Xuan Dai awarded Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee to collectives with outstanding achievements.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 19 groups and 17 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the housing support program for poor households in the 2008-2012 period.
