Vietnam national team focus: Mr. Miura is forgetful

July 25, 2015 07:37

The Japanese coach only announced the list of players after round 18 of the V-League, but many suspected that he sent the list in advance because there were names that were injured or in poor form.

Both Mr. Miura and VFF have half-secretly revealed that the sponsor wants to have the national team list soon to meet commercial requirements for the friendly match with Man. City on July 27. Moreover, VFF does not want players to know in advance that they have a name that can be easily distracted and keep them from playing their best for the club in round 18 of V-League, so they will only announce it after the match.

More importantly, Coach Miura's list shows that he has not been accurate in checking the form of his players or has not been fully advised by his assistants. The Japanese coach's point of view is to always choose players based on their current form and considers the match with Man. City as a valuable practice to gain experience for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

However, the 22 players selected for the national team this time are all former students of Mr. Miura in the teams that just played in the SEA Games and faced Thailand last month, despite their unusual ups and downs in performance. The main thing is that the national team has not made any new discoveries, although some players have been playing very hard recently in order to be lucky enough to catch Mr. Miura's eye.

Perhaps Mr. Miura is cautious and because the preparation time for the 90-minute friendly match with Man. City was too short, he chose the familiar safe solution. That's why he chose three strikers Cong Vinh, Cong Phuong, Mac Hong Quan without paying attention to the hot factors in V-League. It is also important to know that Cong Phuong is injured at the club and had to struggle to play in the match against SHB Da Nang in round 18.

Mr. Miura did not care about the names leading the list of top scorers and playing with high performance such as striker Van Thang of Can Tho or Hoang Dinh Tung of Thanh Hoa who is behind the list of top scorers with 11 goals and is in great form with Thanh Hoa Club.

The numbers of those two players are better than Cong Phuong (five goals) who is injured and superior to Cong Vinh (three goals) or Mac Hong Quan (two goals). The biggest question mark for Mr. Miura was right in the match where Than Quang Ninh lost 0-1 to B. Binh Duong, striker Mac Hong Quan did not even play due to a suspension.

It's a pity that Mr. Miura ignored the strikers who were playing consistently and limited the squad, not only missing out on talent to invest in for a bigger goal in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, but also unintentionally stunted their efforts to improve.

Minh Chau's red card and technical play had no place to show off

Coach Miura called up three central midfielders who were also his former students, including Hoang Thinh, Huy Hung and Duy Manh. They are all young and compete more strongly than designing an attacking style of play from the middle of the field. Compared to Minh Chau, they are not stronger, but unfortunately, the midfielder of Hai Phong lost points after two yellow cards in the World Cup qualifying match against Thailand 0-1. In addition, the technical playing style of the central midfielder pair Tuan Anh - Xuan Truong of HA Gia Lai has always been considered unsuitable for Mr. Miura, who likes to play football like an athlete.
