Focus on building urban systems, creating momentum to promote economic development
(Baonghean) -This afternoon, March 8, 2011, comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, worked in Do Luong district.
Accompanying were leaders of the departments: Planning and Investment, Finance, Home Affairs, Transport, Construction, Industry and Trade, Natural Resources and Environment, and Office of the People's Committee of Nghe An province.
The report on the implementation of socio-economic development tasks presented by comrade Le Minh Giang (Chairman of Do Luong District People's Committee) showed that in 2010, despite difficulties caused by natural disasters, droughts, storms and floods, and price fluctuations, the district's socio-economic development had rapid growth. The total production value for the year reached 3,566 billion VND, an increase of 16.77% over the same period. The total budget revenue in the area reached 80.9 billion VND, exceeding the plan assigned by the District People's Council. The average income per capita reached more than 19.2 million VND/year, an increase of 3.8 million VND compared to 2009. The district did a good job of protecting 500 hectares of forest, planting 250 hectares of new forest; completed the closure of 7.5 hectares of industrial clusters in the town with 13 projects; regional and rural markets gradually operated effectively.
There has been much progress in the cultural and social fields. The quality of 10th grade admission ranks second in the province, continuing to maintain its position as a locality with excellent students in the top of the province. The cause of taking care of people's health has been improved. Social security has been ensured. National defense and security have been maintained. During the Lunar New Year 2011, Do Luong has seriously implemented the directives of the Provincial People's Committee, organizing for people to enjoy the spring festival safely, healthily and economically.
At the meeting, after listening to the opinions of relevant departments, agencies and sectors on the development of Do Luong in the coming time, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Duc Phoc praised the efforts of the district to achieve results in the fields of economy - culture - society, national defense and security, especially in the fields of education, health, and agriculture. However, the district still has some weaknesses and shortcomings that need to be focused on overcoming. That is, budget revenue is still low, economic models have not developed, potential trade - service economy has not been effectively exploited, industry and handicrafts have not developed strongly...
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed that in the coming time, Do Luong needs to focus on developing the urban system to create a driving force for economic development. Promote the development of trade and services by converting and upgrading the market system towards diversifying ownership forms. Focus on developing craft villages and small-scale industries, promoting investment attraction and creating favorable conditions for investors in the area. Build effective economic models for replication. Officials need to closely follow the grassroots to direct and help people overcome difficulties. Focus on implementing well the work of electing the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2011-2016 term, effectively implementing solutions to curb inflation, stabilize the economy, and ensure social security under the direction of the Government.
