All taxi transport units in Dak Lak violate the law on measurement, but still cannot be handled.

The Dak Lak provincial authorities have just inspected and discovered that all four local taxi transport units violated the law on measurement, but have not been able to handle it. The reason is that the measuring units' inspection equipment is not consistent.

The Inspection Team of the Department of Science and Technology of Dak Lak province inspected the fare meters of 34 out of 655 vehicles of 4 taxi companies operating in the locality. Using fixed measuring equipment, the authorities discovered that the fare meters of 18 out of 34 inspected vehicles did not meet measurement standards (accounting for nearly 53%); many of which had errors double or triple the allowable level. However, when inspected using mobile measuring equipment, the fare meters of these taxis all met the standards.

Due to the large difference in measurement results of the two devices (fixed and mobile), the Inspection Team has no basis to handle taxi companies that violate meter measurements.

Mr. Le Phung - Chief Inspector of the Department of Science and Technology of Dak Lak province said that to overcome this situation, it is necessary to re-inspect the measuring equipment that the authorities are using. According to him, these violations have not been handled yet because the data between the fixed standard and the mobile standard are different./.
