Fishing boat hit reef, difficult to tow to shore

(Baonghean.vn) - At 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, January 25, the fishing boat NA - 95225 - TS hit a reef in Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu) while on its way back to the dock to rest for the moon as usual and could not be towed to shore.

As reported, previously, at about 4:30 a.m. on January 25, fishing boat NA-95225-TS, captained by Mr. Ho Van Bac, residing in Hamlet 9, Son Hai Commune (Quynh Luu), along with 7 fishermen on the way back to the dock for a moonlit break as usual, encountered thick fog obscuring visibility and crashed into a reef in Quynh Long Commune, about 1.5 km from the mainland. As a result, the boat broke apart, and the fishermen on board were fortunately rescued. Boat NA-95225-TS, owned by Mr. Ho Van Bac and 6 friends, worth 1 billion VND, has a capacity of nearly 400CV. This is the 4th trip since the purchase to go fishing and encounter an accident; After 12 hours of efforts to rescue the boat, the boat is still able to be safely towed to shore.

The ship was stranded on a reef, and with low tide, towing was difficult.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Chief of Border Guard Station 148 Quynh Thuan, said: “After receiving information about the sinking of the ship, the Station sent officers and soldiers to the scene to gather information, coordinate with the authorities of Son Hai commune to take measures to rescue the ship in distress and transport the fishermen’s assets to shore. As of 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, the ship had not been pulled out of the danger zone because the ship’s hull was on a reef and had holes, and the ship is currently in its old position.”

Currently, the assets and the amount of seafood caught during the fishing trip have been brought safely to shore. The owner of the vessel and the authorities are continuing to develop a plan to salvage and tow the ship to shore.
