Fishing boat engine died, 18 fishermen drifted at sea for 2 days

Fisherman Le Van Khuong residing in Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu) said: At around 5:00 p.m. on May 21, fishing boat numbered NA - 97859 TS, captained by Nguyen Ba Thao, residing in Phu Lien village, Quynh Long commune, along with 18 crew members, was fishing in the open sea at the 19th parallel, about 125 nautical miles from the mainland, when the engine suddenly broke down beyond repair, forcing the boat to drift at sea.

Immediately afterwards, the captain called nearby fishing boats to come to the rescue.

Upon receiving the news, the ship with registration number NA - 90986 TS captained by Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, residing in Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district, and the ship with registration number NA - 98898 TS captained by Mr. Nguyen Van Sy, residing in Quynh Phuong ward, Hoang Mai town, quickly arrived at the area where the ship had stalled to provide assistance.

After two days of towing at sea, in the early morning of May 23, the ship in distress was towed safely to Lach Quen port. The health of the crew on board is currently stable. As soon as it reached shore, the ship was taken to the repair shop to prepare for its next voyage.
