Hoang Mai fishing boat rescues 3 Thanh Hoa fishermen in distress at sea

(Baonghean.vn)- At 4:00 a.m. on December 6, 3 fishermen from Thanh Hoa fishing boat sank in the Gulf of Tonkin and were rescued by a fishing boat of Quynh Phuong ward (Hoang Mai town) and safely docked. The fishermen are currently receiving medical care at Quynh Phuong border guard station.

The ship in distress, registration number TH 91567TS, belonged to Mr. Hoang Van Tuyen, in Hau Loc district (Thanh Hoa province). It was in distress at 19 degrees 43 minutes North, 106 degrees 24 minutes East, about 40 nautical miles from Lach Truong wharf, Hau Loc district, Thanh Hoa and about 60 nautical miles from Lach Con, Hoang Mai town.

The rescued crew members include Nguyen Van Duong, born in 1983, Pham Van Tan, born in 1992, Pham Van Son, born in 1997, from Hau Loc district (Thanh Hoa province). The crew members said: at 4:00 a.m. on December 5, while everyone was sleeping, the ship was sunk by waves. The three crew members, including Guong, Tan and Son, grabbed a piece of foam and clung to it until nearly 9:00 a.m. the same day, when they were rescued by Le Van Thanh's fishing boat, NA 94 124 TS, in Quynh Phuong ward (Hoang Mai town), operating in the area.

Mr. Le Van Thanh said that the location where the crew members were rescued was about 1 nautical mile from where the fishing boat had an accident. After being rescued, the crew members were given clothes and food by their fellow crew members on Mr. Le Van Thanh’s boat and taken to Lach Con wharf, Quynh Phuong border post to complete the necessary procedures.

Representatives of Quynh Phuong commune authorities encouraged the fishermen in distress.

At Quynh Phuong border post, the sailors received medical care, stabilizing their health and spirit. Leaders of Hoang Mai town and Quynh Phuong ward also visited and supported part of the expenses for the sailors to return to their families and soon stabilize their lives.

It is known that there were 9 crew members on the ship in distress, 3 crew members were rescued by a fishing boat from Nghe An, 2 other crew members were rescued by a cargo ship whose identities have not yet been determined, the remaining 4 crew members are missing./.
