US warships in the Gulf are “delicious prey” for Iranian missiles

Iran claims its missiles can hit US warships in the Gulf within minutes.

An Iranian expert said on July 4 that US warships in the Persian Gulf are within range of Iranian missiles if the US intends to launch an attack against the Islamic Republic.

"The US should know that its warships in the Persian Gulf are easy targets for Iranian missiles," Dr. Mohammad Marandi, a lecturer at Tehran University, said in an interview with Press TV.

Mr. Marandi also warned that Western countries would face serious consequences in case of a military strike against Iran.

Mr Marandi's comments came after the European Union (EU) began implementing sanctions targeting Iran's oil industry in an effort to force Tehran to give up its right to enrich uranium.

In response, Iran conducted a three-day missile exercise called “Great Prophet 7,” which Mr. Marandi said was a message to Western countries that they needed to consider the consequences if they continued to escalate the situation.

Meanwhile, a senior military commander warned that Iran's missiles could "destroy US military bases in countries in the Gulf region within minutes if the US launches an attack on Iran".

Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, Commander of the Air Force Division of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), also added that Iran's missiles can easily reach targets in Israel./.
