Passenger train SE13 derailed, North-South railway jammed for hours

Hundreds of train passengers and many vehicles had to "stay" at Long Dai station overnight.

At around 3:15 a.m. on February 17, the SE13 passenger train from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City that derailed in Quang Binh was rescued at Long Dai station (Quang Binh). Currently, the railway industry is urgently investigating the cause, focusing on overcoming the consequences, and calculating the damage.

Initial assessments show that there were no casualties, but the North-South railway line was blocked for more than 5 hours due to the derailment. Hundreds of passengers and many vehicles had to "stay" at Long Dai station overnight. More than 300 meters of track were damaged...

At 10:12 p.m. on February 16, passenger train SE13 on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route reached km538+525 between section 2 of Le Ky - Long Dai station (in Hien Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district) and derailed in car number 8. Despite the derailment, the train continued to drag, damaging more than 300 meters of track.

Quang Binh Railway Management Company had to mobilize more than 150 workers, rescue locomotives and other vehicles to promptly rescue the train. It was not until 3:15 a.m. on February 17 that train SE13 was rescued to Long Dai station.

Because at the time of the incident, there was a passenger train going in the opposite direction at Long Dai station, so the number of passengers returning home for Tet was blocked, many people had to call taxis, so Long Dai station was chaotic at night.

According to information from the railway industry, if all efforts are focused on fixing the problem, it will take at least 3 days to fix the problem. Currently, the problem must be temporarily fixed so that trains can pass through at 15 km/h while the normal speed is 70 km/h./.
