Vietnamese submarines have outstanding advantages thanks to being equipped with Club missiles.

Sputnik quoted information from the US defense news site, Strategy Page, saying that Russia provided Vietnam with Club missile complexes to equip Varshavyanka-class submarines (also known as Kilo-class) that Hanoi ordered from Moscow.

According to Strategy Page, there are 50 missile complexes equipped on 6 submarines, of which the first 3 submarines have been transferred to the Vietnam Navy.

The sixth Club missile-equipped submarine that Vietnam ordered from Russia will be delivered next year.

Director of the Center for Analysis of World Arms Trade, Mr. Igor Korotchenko, commented that the presence of the submarine fleet helps strengthen Vietnam's defense capabilities, in the context of the situation in the East Sea becoming more serious, and countries in the region are strengthening their naval forces.

Assessing the advantages of these submarines, Mr. Korotchenko also said that Russia provides the latest versions of submarines equipped with the Club missile complex capable of anti-ship and ground attack or at long range.

The Club missile complex was first introduced at the LIMA-2009 International Exhibition in Malaysia and immediately attracted the attention of international military experts.

This type of missile is capable of attacking at a range of up to 300km, flying at supersonic speed, equipped with a warhead containing 400kg of explosives, when flying to the target the warhead separates from the missile body and reaches a speed 3 times faster than the speed of sound, the warhead approaches the target at a speed of more than 1km/s at an altitude of 5-10m. Thanks to that, the enemy's anti-missile radar systems are almost unable to detect./.
