The ship had to turn back after two days at sea to avoid the storm.
(Baonghean.vn) - Many boats along the coast of Nghe An province, having just set sail after a week-long break, have had to turn back to avoid the storm.
Despite having just finished its lunar break, and having only departed two days prior and en route to the fishing grounds, upon hearing news of Typhoon No. 2 directly affecting the Nghe An area, Mr. Vu Ngoc Thanh - owner of fishing boat NA 90773 TS in Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu district) - ordered his boat to turn back and dock at Quen estuary to avoid the storm.
"100% of boats and ships in Nghe An have returned to safe shelters to avoid the storm."

Currently, Mr. Thanh and his crew are actively dropping anchor and securing the ship to stabilize its position. They are also checking the ship's equipment and proactively taking measures to protect the vessel in case the storm directly hits Quynh Luu.
All 1,275 boats in Quynh Luu district have safely anchored to avoid Typhoon No. 2. In Son Hai commune alone, with 267 boats, including 212 boats over 90 horsepower, the commune promptly notified fishermen at sea to return to safe harbors immediately after receiving the directive calling for boats to anchor. By noon on July 16th, all vessels had safely reached safe harbors, including 20 boats anchored in Quang Binh province.
After returning to shelter from the storm, the fishermen secured their boats to prevent collisions during strong waves and winds; they also prepared plans to evacuate people in vulnerable areas when the storm hit.
Mr. Tran Van Hung, Chairman of the Son Hai Commune People's Committee, added: "Currently, the commune's flood and storm prevention and search and rescue committee has met and implemented measures to cope with the storm and minimize damage to the fishermen."
During an on-site inspection in Quynh Luu district regarding the preparations for Typhoon No. 2, Mr. Nguyen Van Lap, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, stated: “Quynh Luu district's preparations for Typhoon No. 2 are quite good. This district has a very large fleet of boats and ships, but according to the district committee's report, all boats and ships in Quynh Luu district have returned to safe shelters as of this time.”
