100,000-ton US aircraft carrier 'swings' to paint slogans at sea
The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier performs many sharp turns at sea, creating writings praising the US Navy.
The Pentagon recently posted a video of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier painting the slogan "Beat Army" at sea to praise the US Navy, Military reported on December 5.
According to a US Navy representative, to draw this slogan, the Lincoln had to make a series of sharp turns while traveling at high speed to create wavy water trails in the shape of letters. The filming and editing process took a month at the Norfolk base, Virginia.
In mid-June, the US military also released a video of the Lincoln performing a sharp turn while traveling at high speed in the Atlantic Ocean to demonstrate the ship's flexible maneuverability.
USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) is a modern Nimitz-class aircraft carrier of the US Navy. The ship is 335 m long, displaces 100,000 tons, and can carry a crew of up to 6,000 sailors and 70 fighter aircraft of various types.
Equipped with two nuclear reactors, the Lincoln can travel at a maximum speed of 56 km/h.
According to military experts, because they are high-value military targets, giant US aircraft carriers are capable of changing direction or turning at high speed to avoid collisions or guard against surprise enemy torpedo attacks.
