Robber who dragged girl on the street was arrested
Dozens of detectives checked cameras on central streets, searching for the robber's whereabouts for 5 days.
On the evening of April 23, District 1 Police (HCMC) arrested Pham Hong Thai (23 years old) - the suspect who snatched a girl's phone in downtown Saigon and dragged the victim for 50 meters.

Thai works for a mineral water store in District 4. On the morning of April 19, he rode his motorbike to the intersection of Nguyen Thai Hoc - Tran Hung Dao (Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1) and discovered Ms. Tran Thi Kim Thoa (24 years old) stopping her motorbike to answer the phone, so he had bad intentions.
From behind, Thai ran up, snatched the phone from the girl's hand and then ran away. By reflex, Thoa used both hands to grab the phone but was dragged by the robber for a long distance. In pain from multiple injuries, the victim had to let go and the robber escaped.
At the time of the incident, a traffic police officer on duty ran after the incident but could not catch up. Many witnesses also did not have time to react because the incident happened so quickly.
District 1 police deployed many detectives, coordinating with Ho Chi Minh City police to capture the robber. They checked security cameras around the area, on nearby roads. After 5 days of searching, Thai was just arrested while drinking coffee.
Initially, Thai said that after snatching the phone, he returned to the workshop to work as usual, and in the afternoon, he sold it for more than 2 million VND and spent it all.
