Warm and loving Tet!
The Lunar New Year 2011 has ended, but its echoes have left many emotions in people's hearts, especially for the poor. With the joint efforts and contributions of the whole society, the poor have had a more complete and warmer Tet...
According to statistics from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, during the 2011 Lunar New Year, Nghe An had more than 157,380 households suffering from hunger during Tet and the lean season.
With the motto of helping each other, so that every family can have Tet, the province has decided to spend 16.4 billion VND from the budget to give Tet gifts to 164,457 poor families, each family will receive 100,000 VND; and allocate more than 3.2 billion VND to visit and give gifts to units, policy beneficiaries, meritorious people and social protection beneficiaries.
Of which, more than 109 million VND is used to pay regular allowances to households with 2 or more children infected with Agent Orange; more than 211 million VND is used to pay regular allowances to former Youth Volunteers, the remaining amount is used to visit and give gifts to typical policy families. The provincial Fatherland Front allocated 5 billion VND from the "For the Poor" fund to visit and give gifts to policy beneficiaries, each gift worth 300,000 VND.

In addition, policy beneficiaries also received gifts from the President with gifts of 200,000 VND and 400,000 VND/beneficiary; the Government supported the province with 9,400 tons of rice for poor households at risk of hunger, and households that suffered heavy damage caused by floods, each household with 15 kg of rice to cook during Tet. The above support money was transferred to localities to distribute to beneficiaries before the 25th of Tet. Localities organized the distribution to the right beneficiaries, promptly and without errors. In addition to the care of the Central Government and the province, localities also tried to take care of Tet for the poor.
According to the report, Tuong Duong district still has 71.3% of poor households according to the new standards, many villages and communes still do not have access to the national electricity grid, many families still have to live in makeshift, dilapidated houses. Although there are no more hungry meals, the poor people in Tuong Duong still have to struggle for food and clothing, struggling with daily life. For them, Tet is a time of worries: where to find money to buy sticky rice to make cakes, where to buy new clothes for the children...
With the goal of "No poor households without Tet", one month before the Lunar New Year, localities surveyed and selected the most difficult households to request the province to support them with a standard of 100,000 VND/household during Tet. In addition, the district also allocated 10 million VND to support policy beneficiaries; gave 300 gifts (each worth 300,000 VND) to poor children to celebrate Tet. Tuong Duong distributed 620 tons of rice for hunger relief from the Government and nearly 2 billion VND donated by benefactors to the poor in the district.
Cua Lo Town has established delegations to visit and present gifts to policy beneficiaries and poor households with nearly 2,500 gifts worth more than 400 million VND. In addition, the town has mobilized units and benefactors to support more money, food, and provisions to help the poor have a more prosperous and warm Tet. Do Luong District has allocated nearly 325 million VND to support 7,714 disadvantaged households (those who are not eligible for gifts from the province or the Central Government).
Leaders of Do Luong district also visited and presented gifts to 2 social protection centers in the district, encouraging staff, employees and social beneficiaries at the centers to have a warm and joyful Tet holiday. Along with the support of the province, Vinh City People's Committee allocated the budget to give gifts to nearly 5,500 poor households with the amount of 824 million VND, nearly 7,900 near-poor households with the amount of 786 million VND. Along with that, 100% of wards and communes in the city organized Tet for the poor for the people with gifts ranging from 50 to 200 thousand VND/household.
Tet is also an opportunity for each individual and organization to show their concern and share with those in difficulty and hardship. In Do Luong district, ToYoTa Hanoi Company presented 60 gifts (each worth 200,000 VND) to the three communes of Ngoc Son, Lam Son, and Boi Son. Investment Newspaper and VinCom Company presented 500 gifts to 11 communes that suffered heavy losses in the 2010 flood...
In the bitter cold, the trucks carrying relief goods and Tet gifts persevered over long, arduous and dangerous distances to reach the poor people in remote mountainous districts, even in remote villages. In addition to the program "Warm Tet in the Borderlands" of the Provincial Radio and Television Station in coordination with the Provincial Border Guard, the Provincial Telecommunications also had the programs "Warm Tet in the West", "Warm Spring with poor children in the highlands" of the Provincial Youth Union; "Warm Tet in the highlands"; "Peaceful Tet", "Warm Tet with love" of units, businesses, companies... brought the poor a warm and loving Tet. Each gift they received may not be large in material terms, but its spiritual value cannot be measured. Because it is the fire of compassion, the encouragement and care for the poor, lighting up in them faith in the Party, the State, and the spirit of "mutual love" of the community.
