Tet will not lack fresh food

(Baonghean.vn) - With only a few days left until the Lunar New Year, consumers are most concerned about food, including fresh food.

The family of Mr. Vo Ngoc Minh (Hamlet 1, Hung Tan Commune, Hung Nguyen District) is busy preparing to sell livestock and poultry. In addition to 120 pigs, his family's 7-sao farm in Ne field also has 500 chickens, 1,700 ducks, 5-6 tons of fish... to sell gradually during the Lunar New Year. According to Mr. Minh, the price of live pigs and many types of poultry since the 11th lunar month has increased by 10-15%, making his family as well as many farmers in 157 farms raising fish, chickens, ducks, and pigs in the commune excited to maintain quantity and output for sale. Ms. Nhung (who sells chickens and ducks at Quan Lau market - Vinh city) said: Every year, on the eve of Tet, we have to run to collect goods because there is not enough to sell, but this year, goods from Nghi Loc, Nam Dan, Thanh Chuong, Do Luong are transported to the place, the best-selling is still chicken from Thanh Chuong, Nghi Loc...

Pork and beef will not be in short supply during Tet.

Thanks to the province's support policy, farmers are confident in developing livestock farming.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga - Deputy Head of the Animal Husbandry Department (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) said: It is forecasted that the source of fresh food for the Tet market this year in Nghe An will not be lacking and prices will be relatively stable, not increasing sharply like previous years. In fact, in recent years, the demand for meat consumption during Tet has not increased dramatically. Because businesses have opened their stores since the second day of Tet to understand consumer psychology, people have not bought and stored much.

On the other hand, with the province's support and incentive policies, livestock farmers are also confident in investing in herd restoration and rotation. Up to now, the total herd of buffalo and cows in the province includes 680,000 heads, over 1 million pigs, 15 million poultry. With this number, the output of buffalo and cow meat reaches nearly 12,000 tons, 135,000 tons of fresh meat. According to the assessment, this year, although the province's pig farming output has decreased, in general, large-scale farms or households still maintain stable output, and diseases are relatively well controlled, so the supply of pork for Tet is quite abundant. Meanwhile, poultry farming, especially products such as free-range chickens, industrial chickens, ducks, mandarin ducks, black chickens, etc. is developing strongly, so the supply is quite rich and diverse.
