Thai Binh introduces two new high-yield rice varieties
On September 11, Thai Binh Seed Corporation held a workshop to introduce two new rice varieties TBR225 and TBR117.
These are all varieties selected and created by Thai Binh Seed Corporation, with high productivity and recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for trial production in July 2013.

TBR225 is a purebred rice variety with a short growth period and is less susceptible to blast disease than BC15.
The growing period of this variety in the Northern provinces in the Spring crop is usually around 125-130 days, in the Summer crop is from 100-105 days; in the provinces from Da Nang onwards in the Winter-Spring crop is from 105-110 days, in the Summer-Autumn crop is 100-105 days.
Through experimental production, it has been shown that this rice variety has high productivity, typically in Nam Dinh (92.6 tons/ha), Bac Giang (73.3 tons/ha), Thai Binh (72.8 tons/ha).
Unlike TBR225, TBR117 is a purebred rice variety with a shorter growing period than TBR225. In the North, the growing period in the spring crop is 120-125 days, and in the summer crop is 98-102 days.
TBR117 has an average yield of 65-75 quintals/ha, and under good intensive farming conditions can reach a yield of 85-90 quintals/ha. This rice variety has good tillering, upright leaves, strong plants, concentrated flowering, and large, long flowers.
Mr. Do Van Lan, Deputy General Director of Thai Binh Seed Corporation, said that these two rice varieties have been tested in many localities with different soil characteristics and have given good results. In the 2014 Spring crop, TBR225 and TBR117 can be included in the production structure of localities./.
