According to doctors, this antibody is small enough to be delivered into infected cells and it can also access viral proteins in the cells to gradually destroy them. This discovery will bring good results in treatment and is considered more effective than other potential treatments.

The antibody was developed using human genes. The next step is to test it on animals before it can be used on humans. If all goes well, the antibody will need to be mass produced.

The Ebola virus spreads when healthy people come into contact with the secretions of an infected person, someone who is showing symptoms, or when they touch the body of a person with Ebola. The Ebola epidemic that has raged in West Africa since the beginning of this year has claimed the lives of more than 3,000 people out of a total of more than 6,000 cases.

The epidemic is still concentrated mainly in three countries: Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. Some other cases have also been detected in Nigeria and Senegal./.
