Thailand: Red Shirts celebrate 3rd anniversary of "bloodshed day"

Tens of thousands of red shirt members from many provinces of Thailand attended this protest.

On May 19, in the center of Bangkok (Thailand), the Democratic Front against Dictatorship (aka the Red Shirts) organized a large protest, from 10am to midnight, to commemorate the 3rd anniversary of the protest that led to violence by the Red Shirts, killing more than 90 people.

Tens of thousands of red shirt members from many provinces of Thailand attended this protest, with many forms of commemoration for the victims who died.

Speaking at the protest, Ms. Thida, President of the Democratic Front against Dictatorship, called on the Thai government and people to support and promote the process of true democracy, amend the Constitution and issue an amnesty law for those who participated in political protests over the past seven years.

The Red Shirt demonstration took place peacefully, traffic was not much affected; about 3,500 police were mobilized to maintain security and order in the protest area./.
