The Thai government says it is tracking six people suspected of disrespecting the king.

These six people are currently living abroad and have sought to incite unrest in Thailand. Thailand will request their extradition.

"We will ask for cooperation, friendship and respect from these countries and we hope that they understand that all Thai people cannot accept this insult," Thai Justice Minister Paiboon Koomchaya told reporters.

Under Thai law, anyone who insults the King or Queen is considered blasphemous and faces up to 15 years in prison.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha dismissed Bangkok Mayor Sukhumbhand Paribatra due to corruption allegations and appointed a deputy mayor to replace him.
