On October 11, the Supreme Court of Thailand ordered the arrest of Mr. Thaksin and 26 other officials in a case related to loans worth 11.58 billion baht (378 million USD) from the Thai state-owned Krung Thai Bank.

Lawyer Noppadon Pattama quoted Mr. Thaksin as saying that the former prime minister was not involved in the Krung Thai Bank case because the decisions on loans were made by the bank's executives.

Pattama also said that Mr. Thaksin is still abroad and is steadfast in his stance that he will not accept the consequences of the September 19, 2006 coup. Mr. Pattama said that Mr. Thaksin will not accept any case by the now-dissolved Assets Control Council (ASC) because of its political stance opposing his.

“Mr. Thaksin wants things to be done legally and needs to receive equal rights like other Thais,” Mr. Pattama said.

The former Thai prime minister learned about the arrest warrant on the Internet. He is currently in Moscow, Russia, and will then travel to the UK.
