Visiting Khmer people on Chol Chnam Thmay festival
From April 10-12, An Giang provincial leaders organized many delegations to visit and congratulate the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay New Year to Khmer people in the province and presented gifts at 65 Khmer pagodas, policy families, outstanding armed forces soldiers, and Khmer students studying at An Giang University and Can Tho University.

In addition, the province also organized a delegation to visit and wish a happy new year to the leaders, Border Guard stations and people of the two provinces of Ta Keo and Kandal, Kingdom of Cambodia, which border the country.
At the places visited, the provincial leaders read the New Year greetings from the Provincial Party Committee to cadres, soldiers, civil servants, monks, and Khmer people; and reported on the socio-economic development of An Giang province in 2011 and the first 3 months of 2012, which achieved the desired results.
The provincial leaders also acknowledged and praised the great contributions of the Khmer ethnic people, especially the responsibility of monks and priests who always wholeheartedly follow the Party and Uncle Ho, guiding ethnic people to seriously implement the policies and laws of the Party and State, seek to learn and be creative in production and labor, boldly eliminate backward customs, work hard, unite with other ethnic groups to self-reliantly improve their lives, contribute to building the homeland and building cultural, civilized and prosperous villages.
The monks and priests happily expressed their gratitude to the Party and Uncle Ho for their attention to investing in developing infrastructure for roads, schools, and stations, and for having many preferential policies for the Khmer ethnic minority areas such as: Program 134, 135, Decision 167, Decision 74 of the Prime Minister, Project 25 of An Giang province...
Through the support capital of more than 29 billion VND in the first months of 2012, it has created conditions and helped Khmer people have stable housing, settle down, have capital to do business, and workers can learn skills and access science and technology. Many national grid power projects; clean water and environmental sanitation have come to the mountainous areas... improving the quality of life of Khmer people.
An Giang province currently has nearly 90,000 Khmer people living in 5 districts: Tri Ton, Tinh Bien, Thoai Son, Chau Phu and Chau Thanh, accounting for over 4% of the province's population. On this occasion, military units, An Giang University, An Giang Association in Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho also organized meetings and Tet activities for Khmer students and soldiers.
