Forever "Poinsettia"

(Baonghean) - In 2008, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Central Youth Union, the Association of Non-Public Universities and Colleges and Tan Tao Group jointly established the Hoa Trang Nguyen Award to honor students with high academic achievements. Since then, the award ceremony has been held annually and many outstanding students from Nghe An have been honored through this award.

With the most recent award ceremony in October 2013, the Hoa Trang Nguyen Award has gone through a 6-year journey. Through the organization, the Hoa Trang Nguyen Award has received the positive response and support from ministries, branches, organizations from the Central to universities as well as Departments of Education and Training nationwide, highly appreciated by public opinion and voted by press agencies as one of the 10 most typical events of the year. With outstanding achievements in studying, cultivating and training, every year on the occasion of the Hoa Trang Nguyen Award Ceremony, the most typical students representing thousands of Hoa Trang Nguyen nationwide are also honored to go to the Presidential Palace to report their achievements to the President. This is a great pride and also the most noble reward for Hoa Trang Nguyen.

Over the past 6 award seasons, more than 7,000 of the best students nationwide have been honored to receive the Hoa Trang Nguyen Award. Tan Tao Group and the Organizing Committee have awarded prizes and gifts to the Hoa Trang Nguyen with a total amount of over 10 billion VND. In addition, there are full scholarships to study at Tan Tao University and sponsorship packages specifically for students with difficult circumstances but who have strived to study well.

Nghe An is a land with a rich tradition of diligence and studiousness, so through each Hoa Trang Nguyen Award season, many outstanding students have been honored. Over the past 6 years, our province has had 307 students receiving the Award, including 8 students winning medals at international competitions for excellent students, 15 winning first prizes for national excellent students and more than 20 students being valedictorians of universities along with the most outstanding students of high schools in the province. There are students who have won this award twice such as Nguyen Trung Hung (2010, 2011), Thai Dinh Phuc (2012, 2013). In particular, there are a number of ethnic minority students from mountainous districts who have also been honored such as Lang Thi Truc Quynh, Luong Thi Luu Ly (awarded in 2008), Chuong Van Gioi, Nong Hai Duy (2011), Quang Tuan Anh, Luong Tieu Ly (2012).

In 2013, Nghe An had 30 students awarded the Hoa Trang Nguyen Award and among them, there were many examples of students who overcame difficulties to excel in their studies, typically Ho Dang Chung (born in 1995) - a former student of Quynh Luu 2 High School. Born into a large farming family in Quynh Xuan Commune (Hoang Mai Town), understanding the hardships of his parents, Chung tried to study well from a young age. During 12 years of high school, Chung was an excellent student, achieving many consecutive years of excellent student at the district and provincial levels, especially in the 2012-2013 school year, Chung won the first prize in the provincial Chemistry competition. With those impressive academic achievements combined with constant self-cultivation and training, Chung was honored to join the ranks of the Communist Party of Vietnam while still in school. In the 2013 university entrance exam, Chung was the second best student of the University of Medicine with a score of 29.

These days, although busy reviewing for semester exams, Chung happily said to reporters over the phone: "I was really happy and proud to receive the Hoa Trang Nguyen Award. Although the award is not worth much, it has encouraged me to try harder to realize my dream of becoming a good doctor, wearing a white blouse to ease the pain of illness of loved ones, of everyone." In addition to Tran Dang Chung, on the Hoa Trang Nguyen Award podium recently, there were also other examples of students from Nghe An who overcame their circumstances, made efforts to study and achieved excellent results, and were admired by teachers, teachers and friends such as Tran Van The (former student of Quy Hop 1 High School), Ho Minh Nghia (former student of Anh Son 3 High School) ....

Thai Dinh Phuc - former student of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Bronze medalist of the Asian Informatics Olympiad received the Hoa Trang Nguyen award.

In particular, not only does it have the meaning of honor, but after the award, the "Hoa Trang Nguyen" gathered together under one roof: the Vietnam Hoa Trang Nguyen Club. Bui Duc Tung - a former student of Huynh Thuc Khang High School, a second-year student of the National Economics University, "Hoa Trang Nguyen" in 2012 shared: "Standing together with excellent students on the podium to receive the award is a great honor and motivates me to study, practice and achieve more success. Meeting and exchanging study experiences with many friends across the country is my greatest joy, so I joined the Hoa Trang Nguyen Club to share and help each other with my brothers, sisters and friends who have received awards in studying, in life or together doing volunteer activities for the community. After more than a year of participating in the Club, I feel that I have matured a lot".

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training commented: "The Hoa Trang Nguyen Award is a typical model in the activities of organizations and businesses contributing to the education sector. Hopefully, in the coming time, there will be more businesses and charitable organizations accompanying the development of the education and training career, creating motivation to strive to study, achieving many outstanding achievements for students of the province, contributing to making Nghe An famous for its learning land".
