Yen Bai Provincial Police mobilized over 300 officers and soldiers to coordinate with local authorities and people to surround the roads around the crime scene to quickly capture the perpetrator who massacred 4 people.

Regarding the murder case that killed four people in a family in Yen Bai province, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Head of the Government's Steering Committee for Crime Prevention and Control, requested the Ministry of Public Security, the Provincial Party Committee, and the People's Committee of Yen Bai province to direct functional forces to urgently investigate, arrest, and soon bring the subject to strict trial in accordance with the law, ensuring a peaceful life for the people.

Currently, Yen Bai Provincial Police have mobilized over 300 officers and soldiers to coordinate with local authorities and people to surround the area where the crime occurred in order to quickly arrest the suspect.

During the night, Van Yen district police coordinated with police from neighboring provinces such as Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, and Ha Giang to tighten traffic intersections and border gates. Traffic police were also ordered to be on duty all night, and ferries along the river flowing through Van Yen were required to stop carrying passengers.

Yen Bai Province Chairwoman Pham Thi Thanh Tra directed the number one task at this time to find the perpetrator of this "particularly serious tragedy" that has never happened before in the area.

This is the scene where people discovered the bodies of Mr. Tran Van Long and Ms. Phan Thi Hoa.

The four victims of the massacre in village 16, Lam Giang commune (Van Yen district, Yen Bai province) were members of the same family, including: Mr. Tran Van Long (32 years old), his wife, Ms. Phan Thi Hoa (20 years old), 2-year-old son Tran Van Tuyen and a sister-in-law of Mr. Long, Phan Thi Ha (15 years old), all residing in Cai village, Lam Giang commune.

Vnexpress quoted Colonel Pham Ngoc Thang (Deputy Director of Yen Bai Provincial Police) as saying that at around 9pm on August 12, people reported discovering the bodies of a 2-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl in the slash-and-burn hut area of Lam Giang commune. About 500-600m away, the bodies of Tran Van Long and his wife Phan Thi Hoa (the child's parents) were later discovered at the edge of the forest. The victims were confirmed dead at around 5pm the same day.

"The perpetrator committed the crime in a particularly barbaric manner, killing the victims with sharp weapons, focusing mainly on the head and neck," said Colonel Pham Ngoc Thang.

The scene of the massacre was determined to be about 6 km from the center of village 16, Lam Giang commune, Van Yen district, where there were only 3 to 4 huts growing corn and cassava of the local people, so it was very deserted. When discovering that her husband had been slashed, his wife, Ms. Phan Thi Hoa, called home to inform her family. However, she had just finished calling when she was also slashed to death by the murderer. The scene where the couple was slashed was 1 km from the scene where the child and aunt's younger sister were killed.

The suspect was identified as Dang Van Hung (27 years old), Dao Tuyen ethnic group, residing in Cai village, Lam Giang commune.

Through screening, PC 45 Department, Yen Bai Police determined that suspect Dang Van Hung had previously had a conflict with Mr. Tran Van Long and Ms. Phan Thi Hoa, the conflict between the two sides related to a dispute over a field. Dang Van Hung had threatened Mr. Long and Ms. Hoa that if they encroached on the land next door, he would burn the field...

Synthesizing professional measures, the Investigation Agency determined that after committing the crime, suspect Dang Van Hung fled with a woman named Nguyen Thi Han (also known as Nguyen Thi Huong). Currently, Yen Bai Provincial Police are mobilizing all forces to capture the perpetrator.

Witnesses to the case said that the suspect was carrying a gun when he ran into the forest, but this information has not been confirmed by the authorities. The cause of this massacre was initially determined to be a conflict over a farm dispute.

Because the perpetrator has not been caught, people in the area are currently very confused. Realizing this, the leaders of Yen Bai province have directed the provincial police and local authorities to propagate and mobilize people to actively participate in denouncing criminals; at the same time, encourage people to work with peace of mind and trust the authorities in performing their duties.
