About 30 families of passengers on MH370 gathered in front of the Chinese Foreign Ministry today to express their appeal. “We oppose the decision to stop the search. We do not accept it,” said Boa Lanfang, 65, whose son, daughter-in-law and grandson were on MH370.

Some people held up banners reading “The three governments must fulfill their promises.” The Chinese Foreign Ministry has yet to respond to the call.

Last week, China, Malaysia and Australia jointly announced that the search for the ill-fated plane would be suspended after completing the initial search area without results.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 went missing on March 8, 2014, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, carrying 239 people, mostly Chinese nationals.

The cost of the search campaign has reached 135 million USD with a range of 120,000 km.2 on the Indian Ocean.

Several pieces of debris have been found but none have been confirmed to be from MH370. This is considered one of the most mysterious disappearances in the history of the world aviation industry.
