Beating Myanmar, U16 Vietnam won a ticket to the semi-finals of the Southeast Asian tournament
With a convincing victory over Myanmar, U16 Vietnam won a ticket to the semi-finals of the Southeast Asian U16 Championship.
On the afternoon of June 28, the U16 Vietnam team entered the final match of the group stage with U16 Myanmar. Coach Tran Minh Chien's students had the task of winning to secure the top spot in Group B. The U16 Vietnam players entered the field with great determination to prove themselves. However, U16 Myanmar showed that they were not an easy opponent to bully.

In the first minutes of the match, U16 Vietnam had a lot of possession of the ball but Myanmar also had quality counterattacks. It was not until the 18th minute that U16 Vietnam scored thanks to an inexplicable mistake by the opponent. From a not-so-dangerous long-range shot by Thai Hoa, the ball hit the ground, goalkeeper Htet Wai Yan misjudged the landing point and let the ball into the net, surprising many people.

With the goal to relieve the pressure, U16 Vietnam played even better. From a combination on the right wing, the ball bounced to the second line right to Thai Hoa's position. The player wearing the number 6 shirt volleyed decisively, creating a beautiful play that doubled the gap. It was thought that the first half would end with a score of 2-0 for U16 Vietnam, but the red shirt defenders made an inexplicable mistake.

In a counter-attack situation, Nyl Thant (number 21) decided to break through from midfield. U16 Vietnam had 2 defenders but poor coordination caused them to step on each other, allowing the opponent to easily score and shorten the score.
In the second half, the U16 Vietnam team continued to push up their formation to find a goal. The opponent also had certain improvements in spirit. U16 Myanmar fought more fiercely, causing many difficulties for Vietnam. It was not until the 66th minute that U16 Vietnam could breathe a sigh of relief. From Hong Phong's free kick, Duy Dang jumped high and headed the ball accurately, raising the score to 3-1 for U16 Vietnam.

Towards the end of the match, Myanmar became more and more stuck due to their declining physical strength. The strikers were exhausted, the defense made continuous mistakes, and the white team quickly collapsed. From the 72nd to the 80th minute, U16 Vietnam easily scored two more goals thanks to Thai Hieu and Viet Long. In the end, U16 Vietnam won with a score of 5-1.
With 3 points against U16 Myanmar, coach Tran Minh Chien and his team won the right to enter the semi-finals of the 2024 Southeast Asian U16 Championship. The U16 Vietnam team will meet Thailand or Australia in the semi-finals./.
