Dramatic 4-3 win, U19 Japan "leads" U19 Vietnam into the semi-finals
Takagi's goal in the 90+2 minute helped Japan U19 defeat Australia U19 with a score of 4-3.
This afternoon (September 7), at My Dinh National Stadium, Japan U19 team faced Australia U19 team in the second match of Group B of the 2014 Southeast Asian U19 tournament.
Japan U19 entered the match quite confidently right after the referee blew the starting whistle. The young team from the land of cherry blossoms posed a danger to Australia U19 with their attacks down the sidelines.
However, it was U19 Australia who opened the scoring first thanks to a brilliant move by captain Scott Galloway. From a pass back from his teammate, Scott controlled the ball for a moment and then stroked it into the far corner to put U19 Australia ahead.

Japan U19 did not have many responses, but in the last minutes of the first half, coach Masakazu's team played very impressively. In just 3 minutes, from minute 44 to minute 45+1, Ochi Yamato and Okugawa respectively scored against goalkeeper Jordan Thurell, bringing Japan U19 back to the lead with a score of 2-1.
Six minutes into the second half, U19 Australia unexpectedly equalized 2-2. From a corner kick from the right wing by his teammate, defender Harry Ascroft headed the ball into the net of U19 Japan. But in the 59th minute, Okugawa got the ball in the penalty area and fired a difficult shot, putting U19 Japan ahead 3-2.

U19 Australia tried hard to find an equalizer in the second half of the match. In the 90th minute, Stoke City player Skapetis scored the equalizer for U19 Australia from the penalty spot.

The final score of the match was 4-3 in favor of U19 Japan. With this result, U19 Australia was officially eliminated.
This result also means that U19 Australia has been eliminated after 2 consecutive losses. The two tickets to the semi-finals in Group B belong to U19 Japan and U19 Vietnam when they both have 3 points and have 1 match left to face each other in the final round to compete for first and second place in Group B./.
