JOY NAMED MAY

In late April, when mentioning the trade union organization, the face of Mr. Luong Dinh Vinh - the owner of the workers' dormitory in Hamlet 11, Nghi Xa Commune, Nghi Loc District, became radiant: "Every May, my dormitory is visited by the union. Last year, exactly on May 18, everyone organized an exchange right in the middle of my yard, arranged tables and chairs, displayed cakes and candies, invited government leaders and organizations to participate in art performances, quizzes, it was very exciting. Sharing the same feeling, Mr. Le Van Hau, a worker at Bac Vinh Industrial Park, who rents a room at Mr. Vinh's house, said: "We are all happy to be cared for, remembered, given gifts, and feel proud to have a whole month dedicated to us."

Mr. Vinh did not forget to show off the gifts that the union organization brought to his boarding house, which were a television, a water filter, and an air conditioner fan with the union logo still on them. Mr. Vinh’s joy, as well as the joy of the workers in the boarding house, did not fade when May passed. It was still joyful and smoldering every night, when members gathered in the yard, watched movies, chatted… In just a moment, a year had passed – a year of many difficult changes. May had come again.

May is the peak month for taking care of union members, but since mid-April this year, a series of meaningful activities have been aimed atworkerhas been implemented. That is the union welfare program in health care services, tourism, services of the Labor Federation of Quy Hop and Quynh Luu districts, organizing voluntary blood donation, men's volleyball tournament at the Labor Federation of Nghia Dan district, consulting, distributing free medicine to union members in remote mountainous areas of the Education Trade Union, sports exchange and gift giving to workers of the Labor Federation of Thanh Chuong and Nghi Loc districts, supporting money to build houses for union members' families from the fund of the movement "Contributing bricks to build houses for union members in difficult circumstances" of the Labor Federation of Do Luong district... Meaningful activities in the green color of the union have crept into every alley, every dormitory area, every workshop, every factory. Wherever it goes, that green color brings joy.

At the same time, union members and workers in Nghia Dan are eagerly awaiting the men's volleyball tournament launched by the Nghia Dan District Labor Federation, taking place throughout May, between grassroots unions of enterprises in the area. Sharing about the activities in this year's Workers' Month, Ms. Pham Thi Hien - Union officer of TH Milk Joint Stock Company said: "This is a healthy playground for employees and union members to have the opportunity to exchange, exercise, fight the epidemic and produce and do business effectively. After a long period of being affected by the epidemic, it was impossible to organize concentrated outdoor activities, this year's volleyball tournament was organized not only with enthusiastic participation of athletes, but also attracted a lot of cheers from the audience who are union members and people in Nghia Dan district".

Busy with events and activities continuously deployed during Workers' Month 2022, Mr. Le Van Lai - Vice Chairman of the Do Luong District Labor Federation shared: "It can be affirmed that the series of activities of trade unions at all levels deployed during Workers' Month this year "covered" many aspects of workers' lives, more proactive and clearer than in previous years. I believe that these activities will spread strongly and become a vibrant activity with many practical and meaningful results".

MANY NEW ACTIVITIES

“After a period of silence due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year's Workers' Month has returned with the theme "Vietnamese Workers: Pioneering, creative, responsible, safe, adaptive", including many new and creative activities, promising to create special impressions for workers", Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Nhi - Vice President of the Provincial Federation of Labor shared.

Specifically, to take care of workers, trade unions at all levels in the province will simultaneously organize visits, give gifts, and give houses."Union Shelter"for union members in particularly difficult circumstances, having work accidents, or being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The content of propaganda, dissemination of labor laws, and improving the spiritual life of union members through cultural, artistic, physical education and sports activities is also of interest.

In addition to implementing activities to connect, introduce, create job opportunities, vocational training, ensure sustainable employment and income for union members and workers, the Provincial Federation of Labor has directed unions at all levels to promote negotiations and dialogues with employers on jobs, wages, bonuses, benefits, and working conditions for workers. "Thank you workers" activities and forums“Workers for businesses – businesses for workers”continue to be spread and expanded. Trade unions at all levels will organize meetings and dialogues between government and business leaders with trade union officials and workers, civil servants and employees at establishments, districts and sectors, towards meetings and dialogues between Nghe An provincial leaders and workers - an event that has been cherished for many years and will be implemented this May.

Emulation and creative labor movements are considered the highlights of the trade union organization. Competitions for skilled workers, competitions for proposing initiatives and technical improvements are implemented, activities to honor and commend outstanding workers in emulation movements, especially the emulation movement "Workers, civil servants, and laborers strive to overcome difficulties, be creative, and determined to defeat the Covid-19 pandemic" are organized. Thereby, the pioneering role and responsibility of workers towards businesses and the country will be clearly and strongly demonstrated.

In Workers' Month 2022, the Provincial Federation of Labor launched an online photo contest "Beauty of workers in labor and production" to spread beautiful images and moments of workers and laborers in labor and production, creating a useful playground after work hours, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere for workers in the whole province.

In order to share the difficulties in the lives of workers, Nghe An Trade Union has implemented the program "Going to workers' boarding houses", understanding the living conditions, difficulties, and recommendations of workers at boarding houses, dormitories, and public housing. In addition to giving gifts to workers, the trade union will mobilize boarding house owners to exempt or reduce rent for workers in difficult circumstances, and negotiate for business owners to support workers' boarding house rent.
