Entering the semi-final match of the U19 Southeast Asian Football Championship this year against Thailand, Japan did not hide their intention to strike first to gain an early advantage on the way to the final.
In the first minute, Okugawa Masaya had a chance to open the score when he faced goalkeeper Ratanai but unfortunately did not have the final shot. But Okugawa did not have to regret for long because just two minutes later, he had a beautiful free kick to open the score for Japan U19.
After conceding an early goal, Japan played quite slowly and gave control of the game to Thailand U19 and waited for the opponent's mistakes. Meanwhile, despite trying to push up the squad, Thailand U19 could not cause much trouble for Japan's defense.
Although Japan did not press the field much, they still showed their class. In the 38th minute, after a great coordination with his teammates, Masaomi made a beautiful shot from outside the penalty area, hitting the net of Thailand, doubling the gap of the match. 2-0 was also the score of the first 45 minutes of play.
In the second half, the playing style of U19 Japan did not change, they still played quite cautiously and waited for the opportunity to score. Meanwhile, U19 Thailand appeared quite deadlocked, they only had one attack method which was to pass long balls to the strikers above.
Yet from such a situation, U19 Thailand almost had a goal to shorten the score in the 54th minute, unfortunately Kittichok Kannoo kicked the ball out while facing goalkeeper Kenshin.
In the following minutes, the match took place at a very high speed, both teams had opportunities to score but all could not be converted into goals.
It was not until the 87th minute that U19 Thailand was the team that successfully took advantage of the home team's opportunities to score with Kittichok Kannoo scoring after a very good tap-in in a very difficult position.
With the goal to shorten the score, U19 Thailand put all their strength into attacking with the goal of equalizing 2-2, but Patipan and Sangsorm missed the opportunity to score.
In the end, U19 Japan won the match 2-1 and won a ticket to the final. Meanwhile, U19 Thailand had to accept playing in the third place match./.
