Thanh Chuong: Congress of the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin

(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, March 22, the Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims of Thanh Chuong District held its 2nd Congress - term 2013-2018.

During the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, Thanh Chuong district had 5,090 martyrs, 6,000 wounded soldiers and over 2,200 victims of Agent Orange.

During the past term, the Association has contributed to helping members eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, improve their lives, mobilized nearly 600 million VND for the fund for Agent Orange victims, helped and supported victims to build 20 houses, visited and presented 553 gifts, and granted 3 scholarships to children of members who overcame difficulties and excelled in their studies. Based on the evaluation of the achieved results, in the next term, the staff and members of the District Agent Orange Victims Association strive to: 100% of communes and towns have associations. Every year, 95% or more of member families are recognized as cultural families. Achieve and exceed the target of the campaign to support the Agent Orange victims fund. 100% of association organizations have completed their tasks well, of which 30% or more have achieved excellent results. No member children have violated social evils and 100% of member families have complied with and fulfilled their obligations to the state.

The congress elected a new executive committee of 17 members and elected 5 delegates to attend the congress at a higher level.
