Establishment of an inter-sectoral Steering Committee on bad debt settlement

The Prime Minister has just signed a Decision to establish an Inter-sectoral Steering Committee to implement the Project "Restructuring the system of credit institutions in the 2011-2015 period" and the Project "Handling bad debts of the system of credit institutions."

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh is Head of the Steering Committee; Governor of the State Bank Nguyen Van Binh is Permanent Deputy Head of the Steering Committee.

Members of the Steering Committee include Deputy Governor of the State Bank Dang Thanh Binh; Deputy Head of the Government Office Nguyen Van Tung; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh; Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan; Deputy Minister of Public Security To Lam; Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Dao Quang Thu; Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Xuan Ha; Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Chu Pham Ngoc Hien; Deputy Minister of Justice Dinh Trung Tung; Deputy Minister of Construction Tran Van Son; Deputy Inspector General of the Government Ngo Van Khanh; Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Van Suu; Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hong.

The Steering Committee is responsible for advising the Prime Minister on directing the implementation of solutions to restructure and handle bad debts of the credit institution system according to the goals and orientations stated in the Project "Restructuring the credit institution system in the 2011-2015 period" and the Project "Handling bad debts of the credit institution system."

In addition, research and propose to the Prime Minister directions and solutions to handle important issues in the process of implementing the Projects; advise and assist the Prime Minister in directing ministries, branches and localities to handle issues within the functions and tasks of ministries, branches and localities within the scope of the Projects.

The Steering Committee will advise and assist the Prime Minister in coordinating and harmonizing ministries, branches and localities, while enhancing the responsibility, participation and coordination of ministries, branches and localities in the process of implementing the Projects; and carry out other tasks under the direction of the Prime Minister on restructuring and handling bad debts of the credit institution system.
