Establishment of the Steering Committee for the construction of the Vietnam Military History Museum
On May 19, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense announced the decision to establish a Steering Committee for the construction of the Vietnam Military History Museum. Immediately after announcing the Decision, Senior Lieutenant General Le Huu Duc, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the Steering Committee chaired the first meeting.
According to the political outline of the Vietnam Military History Museum, which has been approved by the Minister of National Defense, the construction of the new museum will be carried out in 3 phases: 2011-2013; 2014-2017 and 2018-2020. The new museum will be built on an area of 39 hectares, in the My Dinh area, Thang Long Avenue. This is a special national project using the State budget. The new museum will have exhibition spaces; spaces for education, training and scientific research; service and entertainment spaces; outdoor resting areas for visitors. Regarding the orientation of the exhibition content in the new museum, it is necessary to clarify the territory, geopolitical position, geo-military, geo-cultural and Vietnamese military traditions.
There will be 7 themes displayed in historical order; 16 themes displaying military specialties; there will be regular thematic exhibitions with diverse genres and profound content; in addition, the museum needs to have temporary exhibition areas; large outdoor artifacts; paintings and sculptures. In particular, the museum will have a creative exploration space to serve the experimental and creative needs of young people.
