Establishment of the Department of Social Evils Prevention and Control of Nghe An province

(Baonghean.vn) - This morning, August 7, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Nghe An held a ceremony to announce the Decision of the Provincial People's Committee on the establishment of the Provincial Department of Social Evils Prevention and Control, under the Provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, on the basis of upgrading from the Department of Social Evils Prevention and Control.

The establishment of the Department of Social Evils Prevention and Control comes from practical requirements, which are the increase and complicated developments of drug, prostitution, human trafficking, and child abuse. Nghe An is one of the 10 key provinces with complicated drug problems, and one of the 20 key provinces with prostitution problems in the country; the situation of human trafficking and child abuse tends to increase. The establishment of a permanent agency to perform the function of social evil prevention and control in the province is to meet the requirements of the tasks in the new situation.

On June 1, 2012, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision 37/2012/QD-UBND on the establishment of the Provincial Department of Social Evils Prevention and Control, with the main functions and tasks: to develop and advise the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to submit to the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee to promulgate policies and guidelines on social evils prevention and control in the province; to guide and organize implementation in practice; to manage and organize treatment and rehabilitation for drug addicts and prostitutes in the province, to organize post-rehabilitation management for drug addicts; to directly manage provincial and district-level Social Labor Education Centers; to inspect, examine and guide professional work on social evils prevention and control in localities, units and service business establishments in the province; to build healthy communes, wards and towns free of social evils.

At the ceremony, the Provincial People's Committee, Department of Home Affairs, Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs announced the decisions on establishment and appointment, and assigned tasks to the Department and related individuals./.
