Establishment of Ta Quang Buu Award for natural scientists

The award aims to encourage and honor scientists with outstanding achievements in basic research, contributing to promoting basic scientific research in particular and Vietnamese science and technology in general to reach international standards, creating a premise for the country's science and technology to integrate and develop.

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, this award will be held annually to present to Vietnamese scientists who are the authors of outstanding basic research works in the field of natural sciences and Vietnamese and foreign scientists who have made active contributions to Vietnam's basic research in the fields of: mathematics, computer science and information; physics; chemistry; earth and environmental sciences; biology and other natural sciences.

The award structure will have from one to three main awards and one young scientist award (under 30 years old, as of the closing date of application for consideration and awarding of the Award) for authors of outstanding scientific works; one award for scientists who have made active contributions to basic research in Vietnam.

The award consideration period starts from September to December. The award selection period is from January to March of the following year. The award ceremony is held in May of the following year./.
