(Baonghean.vn) - On June 1, Dien Chau district held a ceremony to announce the establishment of a coastal fisheries co-management team in Dien Thinh commune.

The coastal area of ​​Dien Thinh commune is 3.3km long with an area of ​​37km2. The whole commune has 98 households engaged in marine fishing, equivalent to 98 boats, of which 100% have a capacity of less than 20CV, specializing in near-shore fishing and having a direct impact on coastal aquatic resources.

The fishing association was established in Dien Thinh commune with 103 members, of which the key is 98 fishermen who regularly participate in fishing at sea. This team is responsible for monitoring the exploitation of vessels with a capacity of less than 20CV, organizing propaganda and mobilizing vessels not to fish during the spawning season to ensure coastal aquatic resources and protect the marine environment. The program is funded by the World Bank with a total budget of 1 billion 680 million VND.

At the announcement ceremony, representatives of the department, district, commune leaders and fishermen signed a commitment to carry out the task of protecting and regenerating coastal aquatic resources.
