Thanh Luong won the Vietnam Golden Ball 2011
The most notable race on the awards night of May 10 was the race for the Golden, Silver and Bronze Ball titles for men. Before the winners were announced, Thanh Luong and Huynh Kesley were considered by experts to be the most promising candidates.

Finally, surpassing naturalized foreign player Huynh Kesley, along with his teammate in the Vietnam U23 team Trong Hoang, Thanh Luong became the best player in Vietnam in 2011. This is also the second time a player from Hanoi FC has received this honor. Currently, Thanh Luong is only behind the number of times he has won the Golden Ball of 2 other seniors, Le Huynh Duc and Le Cong Vinh (both 3 times).
After learning that he had won the award, Thanh Luong said: “This is a great honor, proving that professionals and the media have placed their trust in me. This is also the motivation for me to continue to strive to improve.”
A small surprise occurred in the QBB title, when Trong Hoang (SLNA) surpassed Huynh Kesley (Sai Gon XT) to become the second best domestic player of Vietnam in the year. Huynh Kesley received the bronze ball. The naturalized Brazilian player Kesley is also the first foreigner to win the balls in the annual awards organized by the Saigon Giai Phong newspaper.
In the race for women's titles, in a year when Vietnamese women's football did not have many notable international tournaments, goalkeeper Dang Thi Kieu Trinh of the HCMC women's team proved to be the most stable.
In the context that many famous teammates such as Kim Chi retired, Kim Hong was seriously injured and had to rest for almost the entire year, Kieu Trinh still led the HCMC players to fiercely compete for the national women's football championship last year, as well as continuing to be an irreplaceable pillar of the Vietnam women's team in the coming time.
There were no surprises when Kieu Trinh was named the winner of the 2011 Vietnam Women's Golden Ball. On the podium, the girl from Dong Thap could not hide her emotion: "I was really surprised, to be honest, I didn't think I would win. Thank you to the fans, thank you to my parents for supporting me all this time."
The two players who received the Golden Ball and Golden Ball awards for women were Le Thi Thuong (Than KSVN) and Nguyen Thi Muon (Hanoi 1).
Meanwhile, surpassing Philani (B.Binh Duong), Gaston Merlo (SHB Da Nang) became the best foreign player of the year. In the category of best young player, Nguyen Van Quyet (Hanoi T&T) won the award for the second time.
