Young people are gradually forgetting the traditional performing arts of the nation.

(Baonghean) –Nowadays, besides the massive influx of foreign art forms, traditional Vietnamese performing arts such as reformed opera, tuong, cheo, folk songs, etc. are gradually being forgotten, especially among young people.

Why are young people today not interested in these traditional performing arts? That is because of the lack of proper investment by the relevant departments in traditional art forms. Currently, some works are staged as traditional, but most of them are distorted and changed too much. For example, the performing artist wears traditional ao dai, a turban on his head but high heels on his feet; or the artist plays a poor character, crying miserably but is dressed very nicely, with a gold necklace around his neck. The decoration and set-up tools are also "modernized" and are not suitable for each art form and each historical period. Another reason is: the Youth Union staff at the grassroots level do not have much knowledge about traditional art forms and traditional festivals. Young people rarely participate in these artistic activities, mainly modern art. Meanwhile, various types of depraved cultural products from outside still flood in through many different channels. Although they have been prevented, they are not yet completely eliminated. Therefore, today's youth are somewhat distorted in choosing their spiritual food.

The need to enjoy and participate in cultural and artistic activities of young people is always developing in line with the country's innovation process and the diversity of world culture. However, this does not mean that young people are increasingly moving away from traditional art forms of the nation. All levels, sectors, especially the authorities need to pay attention, have policies to encourage and exploit all artistic creativity, train and foster young talents in mass art activities to attract young people to return to traditional art forms that are historical and traditional to the Vietnamese people.
