After arguing with his relatives, a young man suspected of being high on drugs climbed onto the roof and screamed, then climbed down and set fire to the house before running away.
At around 7:45 p.m. on November 6, wooden house number 148/12 located in the Western quarter on Bui Vien Street, Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City suddenly caught fire.

Many residents here said that after arguing with his relatives in the house above, a young man identified as the homeowner's nephew climbed onto the roof, stood screaming, and threatened to burn the house down. He stood on the roof for quite a while, then climbed down to the first floor of the wooden house to set fire to the house and then fled the scene.
The fire broke out fiercely, flames rising dozens of meters high, causing many households to flee in panic. Part of the Western Quarter - Bui Vien was blocked off. Fearing the fire would spread, many nearby hotels evacuated their guests to safety.
