Young volunteers work in the sun to help villagers build roads

(Baonghean.vn) - Over the past few days, more than 50 youth volunteers from many universities and colleges across the country have braved the sun to clear roads to help people in the border commune of Chau Khe (Con Cuong).

This is an activity within the program "Green Journey - Upstream Lam River" organized by volunteer students.

At Chau Khe border commune, 54 volunteers coordinated with 35 youth union members of Xat village, Chau Khe commune to dig and open 300m^₂Roads to production areas; propaganda about environmental sanitation combined with helping households in the village dig holes to treat waste at home; build toilets, clear sewers and drainage ditches.

Chau Khe is a border commune of Con Cuong district. The commune has 3 ethnic groups living together: Thai, Kinh, Dan Lai, economic life as well as transportation is still very difficult. The volunteer activities of union members, youth, and students have further fueled the belief of people in remote areas to overcome difficulties and rise up in life.

On this occasion, the delegation also organized cultural exchange activities with local people and presented 5 bicycles to 5 poor students who have overcome difficulties, and 5 gifts to Agent Orange victims with difficult circumstances in the commune./.
