Inspector of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested to stop collecting copyright fees for "Tien Quan Ca"
On the afternoon of August 25, Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vu Xuan Thanh signed a document requesting the Vietnam Center for Music Copyright Protection to stop collecting royalties for the musical work "Tien Quan Ca".
According to official dispatch 3498/BVHTTDL-TTr, dated August 25, 2015, the Inspector of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Copyright Office worked and informed the Center that: In 2010, Ms. Nghiem Thuy Bang, wife of the late musician Van Cao, sent a letter of invitation to the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to donate the work "Tien Quan Ca" to the public, the Party, the National Assembly and the State.
After the working session with the Center, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism officially issued a document requesting the Vietnam Music Copyright Protection Center to stop collecting royalties for the musical work "Tien Quan Ca", the reason: "Ms. Nghiem Thuy Bang is the wife of the late musician Van Cao, the family representative donated the work "Tien Quan Ca" (National Anthem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) to the public, the Party, the National Assembly and the State, this was also the wish of the late musician Van Cao when he was alive and working.
Previously, many press agencies reported that the Vietnam Music Copyright Protection Center collected royalties for the musical work “Tien Quan Ca” by the late musician Van Cao in the program “Sing Forever the Military March” on August 15, 2015 at the Youth Theater and the program “Proud of My Fatherland” on August 17, 2015 at the Quan Ngua Sports Palace in Hanoi, organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper. These are two programs aiming at the 70th Anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
