After decades of waiting, the joy of victory has come to millions of Vietnamese hearts. For the people of Vinh City, the joy is even more endless because the person who created this historic moment is a son of Nghe An, a player who grew up from the SLNA football team: Le Cong Vinh.

After decades of waiting, the joy of victory has come to millions of Vietnamese hearts. It was pouring rain, but in every corner of the street, cafes, bars, restaurants... there were large TVs for diners to watch while eating... Before the match, most of the cafes were packed with people, including drums, trumpets, speakers, yellow star flags... to cheer for the Vietnamese team.

With only the last seconds of extra time left, Cong Vinh headed the “golden goal” into the Thai net, and the whole Vinh city exploded. At the same time, the rain suddenly seemed to get heavier, but it could not stop the people of Vinh city from pouring into the streets to celebrate this great victory. It is worth mentioning that the people of Nghe An are very proud of their son. They shouted: “My son Cong Vinh is very good” ….

Without prior arrangement, everyone flocked to Ho Chi Minh Square, thousands of people gathered at the intersections, in front of the Central Post Office, Ho Chi Minh Square..., old men and women, even children poured into the streets, standing all over the sidewalks. The victory celebration group began to run around Ho Chi Minh Square, from Le Mao Street, through Tran Phu Street, Le Duan Street, Truong Thi Street, Ho Tung Mau Street... the group of people flowed like a waterfall.

Vietnam won! Vietnam is the champion! Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh!... was shouted by everyone until they were hoarse. Flags, flowers, banners, even pots and pans were brought out by hundreds of people to cheer for the Vietnam team. No one knew when they had been prepared, but national flags, red headbands... were put out by many stores, flooding the streets. The atmosphere in Vinh had never been so exciting.

The song “As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day” was played at full volume from the CD stores along both sides of Ho Tung Mau Street. Not only motorbikes, many people also drove cars and took taxis to join the surging crowd. Along the sidewalks, onlookers were also crowded, the coffee shops suddenly became empty because no one was willing to sit still, everyone had crowded onto the street. In front of the gate of the Nghe An Labor Culture House, there were a few foreign guests, they squeezed into the middle of the street to shake hands and touch the Vietnamese national flag to feel the extreme joy of the Vinh people.

It is worth mentioning that in the joy of victory tonight in Vinh City, the number of people pouring into the streets to celebrate the victory of the Vietnamese team is a hundred times larger than when Vietnam defeated Thailand in Thailand. Almost all the roads above were filled with people standing on both sides of the corridor. And on the street, thousands and thousands of motorbikes and cars have flooded Vinh City with a brilliant and endless sea of people....

To ensure the joy was complete, the city police force and the mobile police force, the 113 police force worked very hard. Talking about his mission, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Huan - Deputy Chief of Le Mao Ward Police said: The brothers in the team had discussed with each other since the weekend but were still surprised by the large number of people pouring into the streets. The biggest luck up to this moment is that nothing unfortunate happened on the streets.

At 1am, the streets were still bustling with people walking endlessly, flags and cheers still echoing....

Along with many Vietnamese football fans, with many other cities across the country, Vinh City had a sleepless night!
